Information for Health Practitioners

A referral is not needed to seek osteopathic treatment, however several referral programs exist to allow patients to receive further benefits.  These are listed below:

(1)  Medicare Initiative

The government initiative under Medicare Plus allows patients with chronic conditions to receive osteopathic treatment through Medicare with referral from a medical practitioner.

(2)  Workcover 

Workcover allows Osteopathic treatment of an injured worker covered under the Workers Compensation Act.

(3)  Motor Accidents Authority (MAA)

MAA allows Osteopathic treatment for injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident with insurer approval.

(4) Veterains Affairs

Veterans who have been issued with a Repatriation Health Card are eligible for osteopathic treatment paid through the DVA.
